You can powerboost every character in this game to insanity, but a good suggestion, if your planning not to powerboost, is to look at their overdrives. The overdrives power usual go hand in hand with the characters effort in battle.

Tidus, Wakka and Yuna (If you count Anima) got the strongest, dmg-wise, overdrives in the game. Aurons lvl 2 "Banishing Blade" overdrive allways negate any monsters defense regardless of imunity which can come in handy.

I'd say Tidus, Wakka and Yuna for the best profits

Tidus get Hastega and his lvl 4 overdrive - Blitz Ace is very strong, Yuna heal and have some strong attacks though her Aeons, and the status attacks from Wakka is very good combined with his lvl 2 overdrive - Attack Reels

Auron is a tank and got insane boost in life and strengh by his grid.

auron a tank... he got like 500 more hp than the others :S they are all the same, they just start at different places and have different overdrives. and when you get at higher power and you fight better mosnters then tidus overdrives really doesnt dmg that much. when the monsters really have much hp then its some sucky dmg and nearly makes no different from normal attack as normal attack always does 99,999 dmg and hes overdrive does around 20k per hit and he only hits 9 times

My tidus do 99.999 on every attack in his last overdrive... Can't remember how many attacks but he is my most damaging with Wakka and Anima which does around 60-80k each attack on overdrive

I allways use Banishing Blade from Auron to remove defense from bosses anyway so defense doesn't matter when I play

And yes Auron is this games tank. I talk about ingame and not about powerboosting.. I know all can get the same through the grid, I'm not a fool lol

tidus overdrive does less dmg than wakkas. animas overdrive is very low on dmg. but he does NOT do 99.999 dmg every hit if you fight the hard bosses. but the last hit were he shoots the ball there he always does 99.999 dmg but with the 8 other hits he does not make 99.999 if you fight monsters with high def :S try earth eater. tidus makes around half the damage in a hit than wakka does and wakka hits more times
