I had an NES and SNES back when they were new but I was never really into RPG's, I played the basic Mario, fighting games, and side scrollers. It wasnt till I was 14 and in high school till I got caught up in the buzz of FF7. I got a PS1 earlier that year (1997 btw) then asked my parents for 2 games for xmas: Resident Evil Director's Cut and Final Fantasy VII. I was instantly hooked.
Funny thing I got so hooked on FF7 we had a HUGE snow storm that year and knocked the power out at my place for a solid week. My cousin got her power back like 4 days before I did....so I went over there everyday and played the hell out of FF7. I remember my mom saying "did he even move from the tv?" "only for bathroom breaks"
I've pre-ordered EVERY numbered FF game since then (except the online ones) and beat the hell out of them. Also went back and beat the ones on NES and SNES that I'd missed.
Question: Did anyone play the fan translation of the original FF3 rom for the NES emulator? I played it and beat it in a computer class I had....good times....good times. Awesome thread I love just sharing random memories of the FF games I've played.

Haha that's awesome. Once I got tired of watching my friend play and decided to give it a shot myself, I don't think I ever left the living room. I'd sleep on the floor, wake up on the floor and open my strategy guide, my mom would bring my lunch/dinner to me and I'd eat it on the floor. Maybe not the most active childhood but I sure did have a blast. I was just thinking the other day about the Japanese FF III translation rom, was it good? It's something I really want to try out once I'm satisfied with my PSX resume.

I was 3, playing FF1 on the NES with my older cousin. Had no clue what it was until many years later after I had played ff7.
Talk about a head start!
