Terrible antagonist. Well, technically, it's Jecht, but still. (Braska's Final Aeon) With your best weapons, you can kill him in two hits, or you can kill him with ONE overdrive ability (Attack Reels).
Seriously, what a terrible last boss. Nemesis (the last original creations boss from the Battle Arena in the Calm Lands) has 10,000,000 HP. It makes Jecht's 140,000 look like nothing. The boss design in 10 was a letdown, for sure. They were all either too weak, or too strong, and relied on counter-attacking to kill you. (Anyone remember the Earth Eater that countered with Megaton Punch, or the Greater Sphere that countered with Ultima EVERY time you hit it?)
Regardless, I still highly enjoyed Final Fantasy 10. I'm on my fourth play through the game, now (I'm finally doing a No Sphere Grid run). The story is entertaining, and I really like some of the characters.
You should keep in mind.. the storyline was based on a continuous playthrough without training like hell. If you played through the game at the pace you were meant to, you would have at least some minor difficulty beating them. You probably wouldn't even be doing 9999 a hit at that point.
To be honest, I don't see any major flaws in the boss progression. If you were at max strength in every final fantasy, you coulud 1-2 shot most of the end bosses with an ability or other. Every game had it's incredibly hard-to-beat optional boss.
