oo its considered selling out if they make a game to make money, wow you are a retard, or is it just jealousy cause they made millions off the game and you prolly make minimum wage and only 20 hours a week

I'd school you, but it looks like everyone else already slapped you around and made you look like a rape victim.

Firstly do you really think people are going to buy 15 if they know 13 sold out? Terrible business sense.

the ONLY reason 13 will make money is because it was multi platformed, and i bet it STILL will not even make half of what 7 did, or 8, or 10.

But i'll let the downie who probably found 13 hard get on with his pathetic life.

Also @ Xeonics, you are telling everyone that the most bought, most popular game EVER. Was shit. No really, you must know better then like 800 million people.

2 (or 4) to Aussies, set the trend for FF games. 7 was a continuous of a proven winning formula. Stupidity of 13 fanboys shocks me. I bet 90% of you didn't even play 4,5,6. Probably played FF7 on the psp.

actually ive played almost every single final fantasy starting with 3, 13 isnt my favorite but its one of the top ones, 7 was one of the worst ones ive played along with 8, everyone has their own opinions on games, and if you consider final fantasy to sell out then it would been after they made the second or third one, not the 13th one

Also anyone who thinks that FF7 set the trend of FF games is a shitty fanboy, who has terrible opinions about everything.
I guarantee you cant even provide several good reasons as to why its a good game. Since its a terrible game, with a shitty story.

7 & 8 are the greatest final fantasy's ever made.

lol, obviously you two have no clue what your talking about.

But Final Fantasy 4/5, set the trend. 7 was just a powerhouse along with 8.

I think FF is ailing for the same reason as other current gen RPGs. The increase in technology and graphics is taking RPGs and turning them into movies, when they used to be more like books. Since the games are so much more detailed the imagination isn't allowed to wander as much, like it would when reading a book. I think this is a transition that a lot of people are having trouble dealing with.

Personally, I didn't really like 13 either. The story was somewhat original, but the characters weren't really that interesting. The game moved at a bad pace too, probably because of the uninteresting characters. Plus, the game tries to sell a new combat system, but there is really no strategy to it since you can only control one character.

If(when) they make 15, people are going to buy it just because it's FF, the most recognizable name in the RPG genre. 12 and 13 weren't total busts by any standards either. If you check sites with game rankings, you'll see that they all are over 8 out of 10, even by user ratings. They haven't had as many user rankings, but they also haven't been out for 10+ years now haha. 15 is by no means in any danger of not selling, FF has a reputation for making quality games. I think the only difference between now and 10+ years ago is that there are more options for gamers. Back then there wasn't online for console gamers, or terrific shooters or action games. It was pretty much just RPGs or platformers. Times have changed.

EDIT: Also, the video game market is a lot bigger than it was 10 years ago. Even if there are going to be more people that have a dislike for these games, there are going to be that many more that like it to balance it out. It's just not that everyone is on forums talking it up. I happen to think that FF as a whole is overrated. Not to say that I don't like it, because I do. But, take the PS1 for example, when RPGs were really at their peak. There are just as many quality RPGs, if not better, than FF7, 8, and 9 on the PS1. It's just that FF has so much more marketing and production on the games, that they have always been the most recognizable. FF7 was so instantly popular because noone had ever seen a game with THAT magnitude of production before. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Dude that was way to an intelligent post for this site. Props to you.

I agree with you nearly completely except if you look the sales on 12 and 13 compared to 7,8,9 then yeah, 15 is going to be in some trouble and 13 was released on TWO consoles... Also FF7 wasn't just well produced, it was just an amazing game that drew a widespread audience from what was at that time really only a massive seller in the asian nations. You might play it 10 years later and rag on it but seriously, that game blew minds in its time. I would be more inclined to say that 8 and 9 power housed off 7's success. Also FF anthology (4,5 or 2 and 5 depending on if your aussie, british or american) and 6. which were re released on ps1 because of said success.

But srsly, Valuc, Your opinion doesn't count. You have been voided. Anyone who thinks 13 was a decent game is straightaway out. Opinion or not. Its like saying asians are good drivers. Or that voting for George Bush was a good idea. Its just wrong.

I've only looked at these sales numbers, but they don't have 13 yet:

http://vgsales.wikia.com/wiki/Final_Fantasy

12 had solid sales, more than FF9, and close to 8. I'm sure that 13 had solid sales though. It's obvious that 7 was what gave FF a huge following in the West, just look at the jump in sales numbers. No one had seen a game with that much marketing and production before, I actually remember seeing commercials for it on TV when I was younger. The quality in production on 7 was just such a huge leap though, that really boosted the FF franchise, and RPGs as a whole. Also, I think the jump from medieval fantasy to semi-futuristic science fiction was also a way to be more creative and really help the franchise. At the time in the 90s, I thought 7 was fun, and it was extremely accessible and easy to pick up and play, but I thought it was pretty overrated even then. The story wasn't that good, the concept was good, but the way the story was presented was really confusing and made it unclear. I've beaten the game multiple times, and I still wasn't sure how things unfolded exactly until I read a summary of the plot online. I think when pieces have to be fit in from the outside, that a story isn't good enough. I also don't think that 8 and 9 mooched off the success of 7, as they are completely new worlds. They also present the story in a more efficient manner. 5 and 6 were rereleased because they weren't THAT accessible to the West back in the day, and RPGs were at their peak, so it was a brilliant opportunity to make some money.
