you know what i dont get in most fanal fantasy game the optional bosses are so much harder than the final bosses example yiazmat vs the undying would be a joke so why in the hell would the evil final boss guys take over the world it wouldnt happen the other secret hard dudes would eventually stop them so whats the point of you adventuring when u could just hunt the biggest baddest monster out there and sick them on the evil guys .... maybe im just talking and making no sense but its on my mind
The way I see it, the final boss in a game is there for people to fight in the normal course of the game, without having to powerlevel or get the best skills/items. It'd be crap for casual players if they couldn't just go through and finish the game, so it makes sense to make the final boss quite powerful but make the optional bosses extremely powerful, rather than the other way round. That way, casual players can go through and finish the game and leave it at that, whereas everyone else can choose to level their guys up, get the best equipment/skills/spells and beat all the more powerful bosses.
