Final Fantasy Eight is my fav. The love story itself, that trancends space and time is nice...but the characters are all flawed and true to life. Squall isint likable at first...I mean come on if you lived his life would you be? Plus the ending to this game (which most people fail to even understand) is the best in the series.

Oh! And I forgot! FF8's music is the best too! Fithos, Lusec, Wecos, Vinosec

Various based opinions that I've seen are related to graphics. What do you think the best story line[d] FF is? What makes it so? Discuss.

Personally - FF3/6 [amer] is my fav. Each character had their own little place and backround in the story, none really drawn out and boring. Kefka is a bad ass villian that set a high bar ranking for bosses. I don't think any other boss is that much rememberable other than Sephiroth.

zzzzz FF7 owns all storylines

6 was too boring for me

oh come on,, no matter what you say, FF10 has to be TOP 2 on everyones list.
it was an utter pognant ending i actualy teared up when Yuna tried to grab Tidus and fell through.
and the cut-scenes were spactacularly awesome.

I didn't get into it that much as the others. Probably because I am old school and I love the 2D games. FF7 is the only exception to be on my top 2.

What do cutscenes being beautiful have anything to do with storyline? Read any books lately? They don't have cut-scenes yet they usually have great storylines. If anything X-2 hurt X in more ways then it helped it. Worst idea a game designer ever had.

I agree with that...

10 might be 3rd best, but I haven't played 12 yet...

But then again I liked FF Mystic Quest too. And that was a totally different config.

lol?
the cutscenes have everything to do with the story.
do you think any FF would be considered perfect like they are if their cutscene graphics wernt completley outstanding?
even if the story was exactly the same, not any FF would have the same stellar storyline that it does. the Graphics allow for a deep read into the character emotions and everything. Do YOU think the ending in FFX would ever have the same effect if you couldnt see the single tear fall from Yuna because the Mp looked like they came from a GTA?

The older games didn't have any of that and still are priceless. FFVII's cutscenes were remarkable at the time, but it didn't effect the storyline much except maybe the end. They help the storyline but they won't make or break a FF game. It's been proven.
