Hasn't been my experience at all
FATEs have been a lot of players working together to defeat the encounter
Also, recall in ff11 that you didn't have to party until Valkurm Dunes at like 10-11 and reconcile that with your early gameplay experience. This compounded with the fact that it's a beta: you should keep your chin up.
Other than that.. I think it is good that it is more solo friendly game. The biggest detriment to 11 was sitting around waiting for parties, so... yeah. That being said, I agree and would like to see a lot more group content included in the game. I know I've seen 15s and 20s spamming in shout for groups, so, since I'm only L13, I'm still hopeful.
Every FATE I've done, noone is working as a team at all. It's just a bunch of randoms fighting alongside NPCs - I guess that makes it similar to campaign battles.
In the early days of FF11(before FoV), I always would team up with someone to get to level 10. I wasn't talking about a full party, I'm just saying partying in general. Maybe it's the server I'm on, or maybe it's because of beta, but the community seems kinda shitty. Aside from friends I was talking with from 11 in game, like everyone just stays to themselves. There is no real communication between players, but I guess that is just because of a lot of the easy ass quests early on as well.
If the final game is too solo friendly, it won't be much of a FF game. The whole point to FF imo is team work, building parties based on classes, players complementing each others skills. If the game is gonna be like a WoW or Aion or something, where you can get to max level just by soloing random NPC quests all the time, I think this will turn out just to be like any other MMO. Sure, people liked to complain about a lot of the little annoying things in 11, but the uniqueness of it is what has made it survive for long, and why it has one of the most loyal and dedicated communities any MMO has ever had. (and just as a side note, I never sat around waiting for parties in 11, if more people were proactive in making parties that complaint never would have come up so much. I could usually always get on, and start recruiting people to join a party, and have a party capable of exping within 20 minutes or so - even before level sync existed)
