Hasn't been my experience at all

FATEs have been a lot of players working together to defeat the encounter

Also, recall in ff11 that you didn't have to party until Valkurm Dunes at like 10-11 and reconcile that with your early gameplay experience. This compounded with the fact that it's a beta: you should keep your chin up.

Other than that.. I think it is good that it is more solo friendly game. The biggest detriment to 11 was sitting around waiting for parties, so... yeah. That being said, I agree and would like to see a lot more group content included in the game. I know I've seen 15s and 20s spamming in shout for groups, so, since I'm only L13, I'm still hopeful.

Every FATE I've done, noone is working as a team at all. It's just a bunch of randoms fighting alongside NPCs - I guess that makes it similar to campaign battles.

In the early days of FF11(before FoV), I always would team up with someone to get to level 10. I wasn't talking about a full party, I'm just saying partying in general. Maybe it's the server I'm on, or maybe it's because of beta, but the community seems kinda shitty. Aside from friends I was talking with from 11 in game, like everyone just stays to themselves. There is no real communication between players, but I guess that is just because of a lot of the easy ass quests early on as well.

If the final game is too solo friendly, it won't be much of a FF game. The whole point to FF imo is team work, building parties based on classes, players complementing each others skills. If the game is gonna be like a WoW or Aion or something, where you can get to max level just by soloing random NPC quests all the time, I think this will turn out just to be like any other MMO. Sure, people liked to complain about a lot of the little annoying things in 11, but the uniqueness of it is what has made it survive for long, and why it has one of the most loyal and dedicated communities any MMO has ever had. (and just as a side note, I never sat around waiting for parties in 11, if more people were proactive in making parties that complaint never would have come up so much. I could usually always get on, and start recruiting people to join a party, and have a party capable of exping within 20 minutes or so - even before level sync existed)

I'd love to give this a shot, but can't get my hands on a beta key. I'll probably still pre-order the collectors edition, though. :)

Shitty community? Are you sure you're in the right forum?

I've never experienced anything that you're talking about. Most everyone on my server, Goblin, would help out with questions, quests, etc. It reminded me quite a bit of the community on FFXI. And boy do I miss grinding for hours and hours in FFXI. /sarcasm

This game isn't meant to be like 11.

From an experienced player on ff11 for 9 years and having the initial FF14. I can say, the FF game will not go f2p ever. Thats how that company works. You want a top notch game, u gtta pay. Free games have no income so of course they suck. I had all 50s on my original ff14 chara but sold the account.

Theres pros n cons to goin to a legacy server n starting new. Heres how i see from experience.

Pros going to legacy server:
Yes lots of people will be ahead, but also alot of good guilds establish.
Yes economy would be to far ahead of new characters, but then again, its like an inflation, so things are more affordable.
Alot of helpers, so you will never feel lost.

Cons:

Just like i said things will be inflated and stuff is cheap, the less money you will make.
Just like theres crafters capped at almost all crafts, they know whats needed most for leveling so THOSE materials will be costly.
Just like those materials will be costly, it will be very hard to craft.

Around a year into the original FF14, crafting was changed. Lets say you need 12 flower ingredients, you would syth 1 set of scraps n get the 12 flowers u needed. Now its, you get 1 scrap set, and you get 1 flower. Just do the math and you see how much harder it is, so all the legacy people with all 50s in craft had the easy way in, something a new player wont have, and like I said, unless you have a way to get gil, you more than likely will take ALONG time to get any craft to 50.

Another thing is, new players on new servers, economy is done from ground up. So that craft that will normally take you millions on a legacy server to get to 50 may only cost you a 1/10 of that price, but in return if you are one of those hard core grinders and one of the few capped crafter on ur server, the income is very nice. I was the #2 smither on my server for a few months and made gil in the 100 mils before i sold my account. Not only that, if you build a relationship with other crafters on other fields, you can exchange high end mats to make them worthy items. If you join a legacy account, you wont have that luxury because you know top end players are gnna try to suck gil outta the new players as much as they can.

If anyone has any questions from the prev version n the beta out now, feel free to ask, im sure i can answer alot of questions.

I am 100% sure. Everyone just keeps to themselves for the most part, but like I said I was still at early levels.

And it's definitely not meant to be 11, that's for sure. But hopefully I'll find out it does FF some justice, besides just bearing the name and having chocobos lol. 11 was an excellent FF game. And yes, FF11 was a grind, but it was a very social grind - that is what made it so great.

people having a lot of currency to spend doesnt make things cheap and affordable btw.

I hope they continue to bring back more elements off FFXI
Game is too friendly atm, need a real challenge.
And i hope they make us grind more to 50.
1.0 was sad because you could just find a good group and get 1-50 in a day or so
I want it to take at least a month to get max level

I'd prefer it take 2-3 months, honestly.

I don't give a shit about the grind cuz what gives an MMO staying power is the end game, not the amount of time it takes to level.
