^ If you think FF9 is for little kids, then you should also think that pretty much the rest of the series is for little kids as well. FF9 is like the culmination of all things good in the FF world, it is THE Final Fantasy game. It combines the old school art style and character designs with the great plot and character development of the(at the time) newer FF games.

Besides, I'd argue that FF9 is even more plot driven than FF7 and FF8(even though I think FF8 is still a better story). But, the game follows each of the characters more closely than in any previous game, and the level of character development is still unmatched in the FF series. I just don't see how you think it's for kids only, the themes are just as mature as FF7 and FF8. But I guess you're shallow enough to base it only on the art style. Hell, I'd be willing to bet you hardly even played the game.

everything about it is cartoonish. period. the way the characters behave. the art. the story. the main character has a tail. iono what else there is to say.

recently i replayed 7/8/tactics and am finishing up 9 right now while also playing 6 when i get some free time. played every single console ff except 11 and 12. i own 1-13 (cept 11 and 12)

3/ x-2 / 9 are the three worst but i'd say that 9 is better than the other 2.

sure 9 is better than 1-4 but you gotta take into consider when they released. when you do, 9 is the worst final fantasy ever made imo.

ff3 is on the top list of best ff game, kefka was the badass villian in all ff game, hes just ruthless
x-2/8/12 those are the three worst, not sure why people like 8 so much their wasn't anything much to the story and the junction crap just ruined the game, idk bout 9 never played it

8 was probably the worst of any in the series. Gameplay wise, Story wise, Character development, even the music. The level scale system ruined the game completely.

Only redeeming feature was the card game and the side quests it provided.

The only argument you have about FF9 being childish, is its art design. Which is basically quintessential Japanese animation. It couldn't of been better suited to the game if they tried. Why even play JRPGS if you hate the J part?

8 was the best period. it's always listed as the top 3 in any large final fantasy competition. i've seen it number 1 in middle size polls. it's the best because of every aspect of it. the story. the sci fi aspect to it. the characters. the battle system. the challenge. and the card game.
