The battle system wasn't much new, the grid system I found to be hard to get into (and again, nothing too out of the ordinary... just presented in a different way), and most of the mini-games are annoying, not fun. I'm still trying to get 100% completion and hating every damn second of it whenever I have the patience to pick it back up. If I ever have to dodge another lightning bolt it'll be too soon.
Edit: I'd take 7 over it any day. And I never even played X-2, I heard it's more of a dress-up game.
Oh and storyline-wise, pretty weak. Another youngster thrown into an adventure that's just another red pill you're supposed to swallow after another.
