Clear sphere's ain't the problem. The problem is not willing to catch 5 of every monster yet and not being able to kill that underwater boss because of no ribbon + rikku has trash equipment.
Yes I know about the Double/Triple Overdrive + Overdrive -> AP on sword with Overdrive set to gain overdrive on damage/teammate gets damage/dies (for characters who don't have quick hit yet). Auto-haste and auto-life on armor and then spam quick hit. Also I don't have Anima so I can't farm for magic sphere's yet.
WUT DO?!
Haven't defeated a Dark Aeon yet (even Dark valefor can kick my ass). Have HP-limit break on armor, auto-haste and auto-life for Auron, Tidus and Wakka. I have attack reels and ultimate weapon for all 3 (IIRC, I know they all 3 have atleast a break damage limit weapon). I'm maxed out on everything bar hp (around 20k), magic (100ish?), luck and maybe evade. Rest is maxed.
I don't think I can kill Dark Yojimbo yet.
BTW: This is from the top of my head, after about 2-3 years. I'll install my ps2 in my room soon enough.
If you maxed out everything, then you should have enough strength to deal 99,999 damage with each attack (just use the quick hit), I very rarely used Aeons towards the end of the game, so farming shouldn't be much of a problem.
Get Anima and the Magus Sisters as soon as you can though, because Aeons work as a wonderfull shield against the Dark Aeons' overdrives, without all the aeons the battles will be a lot harder.
Catching 10 of each monster is a pain, but it pays off. Id do that before stat first, but it's up to you. Also, maxing out luck is the most tedious part, but it's also the most useful. Don't bother about accuracy and evasion because with 255 Luck you will never miss (and always hit critical) and evade when possible. Having over 10k life is not necessary, but it depend on what strategy you use, I personally liked using (Auto Haste+Auto Protect+Auto Shell+Ribbon), although I always had one character with Auto Phoenix (whom would always have Auto Life cast on him) instead of either Auto Shell or Ribbon. HP Limit Break I only used a few times, but not against Dark Aeons. But I used Yuna though, so whenever I saw an Overdrive coming up, I summonedan Aeon to perform it's overdrive and then take the enemy's deadly attack... although I guess you could switch Tidus/Auron/Wakka for her whenever you see he is going to use it, and the switch back to your usual party.
Aslong as you have maxed stats, quick hit, the ultimate weapons and Auto Haste (and well, Auto Phoenix on one character, who should cast Auto lif eon himself), you should be able to take down most of the Dark Aeons without any problem (Bahamut, Magus Sisters and Anima require a more complete armor).
