Ff7's graphics were state of the art when the game was introduced. Bitching about ff7's graphics makes as much sense as bitching about pacman's graphics.
They were not state of the art, not even remotely, and I remember because I bought it right when it came out.
You've obviously never played Descent or Cyberia; FF7 was just jagged bland 2D, looked like the first virtua fighter (oh ya, you've obviously never played that either lol) but wasn't even 3D.
The graphics arguement is old and simply wrong; Mario 64 was out there, Ocarina of Time came shortly after and was in development then, both games blow it away, and many PSX games had better too. If anything, FF7's graphics were disappointing, the ONLY thing good about them were the cutscenes, but cutscenes don't count.
So FF7 can take credit for ruining modern RPG's by making them into a series of showy cutscenes with bits of crap gameplay squashed inbetween, but that is about it
