Final Fantasy VIII I think is their best so far in story line. It leaves you the possibility to think of anything you want it as you see fit for your ending.
Someone can have a totally different view.
I played it 5 times without finishing it because stuff always came around when I got to CD 4 and then when I wanted to finish it somehow I deleted my saved games to make room for other ones.
But Just recently I finally decided that I'd start over and finish the damn game.
Of course I knew where to go and what to do. And I remembered also not to do the card queen until CD 4 since you won't have to run around for days just to get her side quest. I got the cards but had to save and restart many times as she had the shitty Random/Same/SameWall/Plus and Direct which I just can't stand playing Random + Plus combined. Many times there's no way of winning. then direct sucks cause even if you win 8-2 if she turned a Squall card you lose it.
Since I just finally finished the game recently before I start FF XII, I was so much dissappointed at Ultimecia. I thought I was in for a battle. After you beat up on Omega and meet Ultimecia........I felt cheated. I could have saved Quistis but I never bothered healing her since my setup was Rinoa, Zell and Squall. Quistis had no GF's therefore no junction. I just let her die. I know what an ass I am. Her choice in picking the first 3 was Squall, Rinoa and Quistis. Quistis died in round3, after she junctioned with Griever. The Zell arrived and bang, Gave him Aura and away he went. I had a break in which got 2 Lionhearts and Ultimecia died within 10 minutes. And to say it took me nearly 15-20 minutes to take down Omega.
I was sure Ultimecia was going to give me a better fight.
But truely FF VIII was fun and I will probably play it again.

yea fuck ff8 easily the worst game in series, ff7 > ff8 by about 10000x

Well...you say what you wish. However this thread was about FF8s story line and had NOTHING to do with FF7.

okay.......therefore this isn't a thread of ff7, so explain why its better then ff8......or you just can beat ultimecia but can't handle omega?
I just jumped from ff8 to recently bought ff XII and love it the same. but I still liked those card games. Its awesome how you can have 5 shitty cards and still win a lv9 or 10 with Same/Plus/Random.
The only thing is that I gave up on the card queen because it would take me 1-2 hours before she went to dollet inorder to give her a card so she can make a new one.
After 6 hrs spent on actually not getting a card from her, spent all my time winning back my high cards. I still got the cards on CD4 at the crash site of Piets pod.
I can't comment on ff7 because I never played it. But when someone comes up and says ff7 > ff8. for the ppl that haven't played ff7 let us know why you hate ff8.
I played ff8 and now ff 12. IMO they are the same to me. I will like ff12 just as much as ff8. I just got the game and still learning about gambits and lisences and stuff.

Eight had better graphics,music,mini games,extras,summons...I could go on and on.

Nothing beat the card games. But I guess thats why ppl hate ff8. they couldn't calculate the plus/same rule. heh!!!

Its harder then seven and confusing yes. But that said...the challenge is what I like most about it. Things you can master in a day arnt really that fun.

Rinoa is NOT Ultimecia, despite all the similarities - that has been proven in Official FFVIII Ultimania book where it says that Rinoa can't be Ultimecia because of the fact that sorceress' life span isn't much longer than normal humans' - and Ultimecia lives far in the future (so officially that's EoD, rest of the disscussions are left for fans to have fun with)..

Plus dont you think a sorceress of her power could find some magics to prolong life? I mean if her whole reason for existing is waiting for squall, im sure thats on the priority list.
