I'm a huge FF fan, and i didn't think ARR beta was "all that"..I mean it's okay but it's nothing spectacular. It'll be dead in 5-6 months just like every other MMO since WoW is king in the MMORPG department, always will be. I've got every FF game from the NES to all the way to ps3 so i'd say im a pretty big fan of it. Still, it isn't shit but it's nothing amazing.
I played WoW for like 6 months straight, got bored.
And felt it was stupid to have to dish out 40$ for each expansion/5 levels of the same stuff. All WoW was in the end was end game armor farming.
I played FFXI for 3 years, almost nonstop. 130+ days play time.
There was so much to do besides endgame, including leveling a bunch of other jobs on your main char (in which WoW made you start from the bottom again with a new char)
You began to connect to the character you were playing. You practiced your job through months of leveling and watching others play.
To me, FFXI will always be king. True dedication was needed. If you sucked, nobody would take you.
1.0 Brought some of that with it, but did lack alot. Honestly, i did give up after a month or so. But when they came out with newer content, it was alot of fun.
2.0 seems to bring alot of new stuff that I really seem to like, I just hope leveling wont be as fast as it was in 1.0
I dont think it will die in 5-6 months, especially if they keep bringing in more stuff that made FFXI so epic.
Certainly impressed me than alot of other games. WoW is just bad though, too many young players make it a crappy game.
