It's alright.  It honestly plays like a mix between FF11 and WoW(or some similar WoW game).  What they've done well is the scale of your character vs the world, that was the biggest strength of 11 imo, and it carried over well.  You don't feel really small on the map, you actually feel like you are part of the world.  I'm level 8, and still haven't partied yet, so that is a little disappointing.  So far, it definitely seems very solo oriented, something that feels very un-FF.  I'm sure at later levels there will be some content for partying, but it would have been nice to see some stuff pre level 10( or level 10ish) that was challenging enough to require a party or teamwork.  The random FATE things are pretty interesting though.. but it's mainly just a bunch of NPCs fighting mobs with like 1 or 2 players that aren't really working together.

Hasn't been my experience at all

FATEs have been a lot of players working together to defeat the encounter

Also, recall in ff11 that you didn't have to party until Valkurm Dunes at like 10-11 and reconcile that with your early gameplay experience. This compounded with the fact that it's a beta: you should keep your chin up.

Other than that.. I think it is good that it is more solo friendly game. The biggest detriment to 11 was sitting around waiting for parties, so... yeah. That being said, I agree and would like to see a lot more group content included in the game. I know I've seen 15s and 20s spamming in shout for groups, so, since I'm only L13, I'm still hopeful.

im kinda missing the first FF14 that came out honestly. This game reminds me a rift with all them FATEs that pop up, and all the teddious npc quests that pop up during story line progression, i guess thats kinda from wow.

Some questions:

Starting locations is based on class?
Can you move during combat? (Videos never showed)
How fluid is combat?
Do you think PvP will be pretty balanced/good? Does it seem like it can be competitive with the current systems in place?
Are limit breaks per party or per person? (One limit break in a party or can everyone do limit break whenever?)

Some questions:

Starting locations is based on class? Yes
Can you move during combat? Yes you can, depends on what class. AKA if mage you need to cast and if u move it will be interrupted :)
How fluid is combat? Pretty smooth and easy! Especially with a gamepad.
Do you think PvP will be pretty balanced/good? Does it seem like it can be competitive with the current systems in place? Not sure about this.
Are limit breaks per party or per person? (One limit break in a party or can everyone do limit break whenever?) I see it in my skill but never got 2 use it. But i think its per person since each player has limit break

I quoted u with the answer.

P.S Buy the COLLECTORS DIGITAL! its same price as original game (Physical copy)

Comes with alot of goodies! :)

This is definitely going to be my new 'main' game. Been waiting for a new subscription based MMO since I quit wow... All the other ones try it then switch to F2P and its downhill from there. FFXI is like 12 years old or something and it's still a monthly subscription lol.

So I think this'll be a game with a lot of staying power and Yoshi-P has already talked about some of the features in the next few major content patches, stuff to look forward to.

Too bad I was working 12 hours a day this weekend so now chance to get on the beta :(

Alot of people say they will go to legacy servers cuz theres more OLD players from the first release of FFXIV.

For my opinion i think its best choice to stick a non-legacy server because theres more new players and new things to learn while legacy server has different economy.

I'm starting on the behemoth server/world and you guys should join too! Community is great and population is phenominal

There are ups and downs to going on a legacy or a non-legacy server.

I myself am going to the legacy North American server Sargantanas with my guild. One good part if you join a legacy server would be that there are already end-game guilds that you could join once you get to lvl 50 and end game content, also with level sync - people will be able to help you with dungeons and fates, and higher levels would be able to help you out if you don't know how to do something or if you need something crafted, etc.

I think that more of the downsides would be psychological or rather 'it's not fair' that people are starting ahead of you. But if that is a concern, then that's why there are non-legacy servers.

Also to a reply of Extz's question about limit breaks: the whole party helps to build up the limit break meter, and once 1 person in the group uses the limit break, the bar is reset to 0. This is good because it helps put more strategy into the game.

the economy on legacy servers is going to be jacked. Youd have to be retarded to want to start a new character on a server where people are starting with millions in currency.
