Did you not finish the fist one? Would be in your best interest to just play them in chronological order.

i was thinking of playing number 2 but i hated 1 with the passion..got through disc 1 and gave it up..do you think i would like 13-2?

Probably not. Number one actually has "party members" where as XIII-2 has two characters that you're always using and the third member is a monster of your choice. Can capture and use practically any enemy in the game but if you disliked the first game all XIII-2's gonna do is aggravate you.
