JRPG -> Japanese RPG
WRPG -> Western RPG
JRPG's generally have a linear (and usually awesome) stories, deep characters, etc, They are ususally turn based, but not always. There's usually a world map which gives you some freedom and sidequests, but the main story is linear. Examples: Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, Dragon Quest, Pokémon,...
WRPG's normally allow you to create you own characters, giving you the possibility to make them to your liking and the story and gameplay is a lot more flexible, this gives you a lot more freedom than a JRPG. Examples: Diablo, Fallout, Fable...
