My Squad was:
Left Wing - Tidus
Right Wing - Brother
Center - Linna
Left D - Wedge
Right D - Naida
Keeper - Kyou
Bench Warmers - Tatts and Rin
(I only played to about level 30-40ish)
People have different strategies, but IMO the midfielder doesn't need to have a lot of speed. I prefer to have a mix between pass, shoot, attack, and block on my center. On my attacking wings I like to have a mix between speed and shot, I don't really worry too much about endurance, because with Jecht Shot it doesn't matter, and with Brother you can most likely get a 1 on 1 match up by outrunning at least one defender. On my defensive wings, I liked to have a mix between speed and attack, I didn't worry about block at all, I just considered anything I got as a bonus, because with abilities like super goalie and grip gloves it really doesn't matter too much. Wedge is a badass defender imo, if you get golden arm he can easily score goals from the back line lol, I actually did that on teams with shitty goalies. But, what I think makes him a great defender is not only a pretty nice attack(early on especially he's a boss) and some good defense moves early on, but the fact that he has some awesome endurance. Basically what I'd do is I'd let him steal the ball, and then since his endurance is so high, and most teams forwards have awful attack, I could pass it back to my center after taking a couple hits, who could relay it to one of my wingers up front.
Basically.. once I had the abilities I wanted, I just used Mark Mode for my strategy most of the time, either that or a defensive strategy, because I like to have my center playing farther back(hence why I like a high pass stat there). The reason I liked Naida on defense is because she has a good mix between speed, attack, block, and pass. Her endurance sucked, so some forwards could take her out, but on the flip side, most forwards have shitty block stats, and since her pass stat is really amazing for a defender, I could chuck it all the way down field after a steal. If you can't tell, I'm not crazy about characters who are just insanely good with one stat, I do prefer to have a mix.
I did have the intention of trying to get to 99 in blitzball, but I got bored with it, the game is just too easy lol. It is fun, but when I got close to 40 with some of my characters I just got burnt out.
I forsee myself burning out long long b4 lvl 99 Blitzball lol. Thats pretty cool that the characters stats do like they do, how Keepa ends up being a pretty good forward for instance. Great stuff Lublar, post for post you have great input.

I would really like to have Irga Ronso as a defender. ATM, I like having a defender who can get a steal and intiate a fast break, while breaking a tackle to get one player on "backside" of the play. I don't care if my defenders ever take a shot to be honest. A pvp blitzball would be outstanding, with a few upgrades in the visuals of coarse.
*Also, last night I went ahead and finished the last fights in FFX, for the first time. I knew that being on Sin was where it would occur. I wished that there was more of a heart felt exchange between Auron and Jecht. Yu Yevon was very easy, bio Yevon while pounding the pillars w/ Ultima everytime they revived. Having to fight the Aeons, badly threw me off. I was all like, want me summon aeon??? I got you a lvl'd up hardcore Anima beeeitch, then I had to take that thing down, well harder than Yevon. My Magus Sisters / Anima were far tougher than Yevon.
