I've always enjoyed Final Fantasy VIII more than any other game in the series. Character development, the card game, the GF system (I'll admit I don't have the thumbs of an alien and would much rather use a turbo controller for boosting), the whole story. The plot unfolds in such a unique way, disc after disc after disc. Gardens? SEED? If you're thinking this game's gay, go ahead and hit up some more Team Deathmatch on Black Ops.
Very well put, the story does unfold very well, maybe the best out of any FF game. It just doesn't seem like there are as many stereotypical lulls in the story like there are in a lot of other JRPGs. And I agree on the character development part. People always hate on Squall for being for being "emo" or whatever, but he is probably the deepest and most explored character in any FF. By the end of the game, he is such a different person than how he started because of everything he went through, no other FF had anything close to that level of character development.
And about the bold part: Or keep playing FF7 over and over and over lol.
