well....you realize there isnt a lot to go on after 10 :E
11 is rated pretty well 14 is horrid
12 was a really good game, but not really "FFish" would could throw off fans of just FF.
13 was horrid. [aside from the storyline, which i liked.]

i dont know 10 was bad broski, all of the elements were average, or greater.
10 was a pretty good example of how an FF game should be. Puzzles, Mini-games, Decent combat, an at least interesting cast of characters.

I dunno, I think that 12 is pretty true to what FF is supposed to be. I mean, it's in Ivalice, THE FF world.

Yah i know, how was 12 not FFish?

FF1,2,4,5,6 are basically all set in a more fantasy world without much technology. even in 7 & 8 the emphasis is on magic and fantasy despite the more futuristic settings and towns.

12 had towns, had plenty of fantasy and was generally set in a more medieval type era even though there are airships (as there are in almost every game)

The games that deviated from the plan most were 10, and 13 and partly 8.

terrible mini games and terrible sidequests. Combat was junky like ff13

4,5,6,7,8,9 are the only really good examples of an ff game.

12 was okay too just for originality and better voice acting than 10.

Woah woah woah woah, did you just compare 10 and 13?
Those are 2 incredibly different systems, one is closer to the traditional wait system, whereas 13 is fluid, action based, single character command. [which is closest to 10-2, the worst game that square has spit out in recent years]

Personally i loved 10's system as it incorporated all the things i at the time loved about the series, having multiple characters and you could switch mid battle? about time. cant tell you how many times within 6-9 that ive wanted to do that.
On top of that they had the neat little Turn order all mapped out which was nice and added a tad bit of strategy for taking out particular targets moving next [or slowing them down]

As for minigames...well i liked them. X)
and blitzball was godly.

lol.
its really the combat system that im talking about. its so radically different from what people expected and have traditionally come to like about the game, and many people disliked or hated the system which kind of ruined the whole game for them.
Youll find most people judge a FF game first by its combat, and once they like that, theyll judge the other things. If the combat is no fun pretty much the whole game is moot because its unplayable in most cases.

Like i said, i personally loved nearly every aspect of the game [minus the treasure chests, lol]

IF you think 13 is fluid and not actually the same as any ATB system they've made thus far you are dreaming.

It wasnt the same. It had similar elements, but it allowed for more flexibility in terms of when you take action. The system had potential but they ruined it by basically turning it into a button masher, and making combat no fun in general by being too repetitive and time consuming.
With the ATB system you could command the whole party. and have several different choice to make, which i like, rather than running the show through 1 person and having 2 people i couldnt control do the rest.
I also really really really really really hated game overing with only the main char dying. it pissed me off when the main died but the other 2 assholes had like full health.

Blitzball could almost be its own PSN Game :P
One of the coolest aspects though was getting to recruit players from all around the game, and trade for other players on the teams at certain times [idr much honestly at this point.

And the sphere grid was indeed very awesome, but i feel they are repeating its style too much now in future games. [Ability board + that lame ass crystal thing in ff13]
Id love to perhaps see them make some sort of Combination of materia/Spheregrid/esper based system in their future games. [For me all of teh best FF games have had strong ties to awesome summons, and FF9 just wasnt the same, without a cool system :( ]
