Good Team:
Squall (oviously) - dmg dealer, junction str
Xell or Irvine (depends personal opinion) - dmg dealer, junction str and maybe hp (early hp tank, later quistis does that)
Quistis (can 1shot every normal monster later on) - magic tank, junction hp and defense stuff

In the beginning characters except of squall change often.
So junction:
Squall: Shiva Diabolos
Char 2: quetzacotl whatever
Char 3: Siren Ifrit

Later on junction GFs to get a maximum of junction abilities on every char.

For Bosses
Junction Squall with abilities and spells to reach max strength.
Aura on Squall
Meltdown on Boss
Limit

.

Also special hint
After saving the people in the training hall of balamb garden you get 16 Magic Stones/Wizard Stones cant remember name in english).
You need to have one Ability from Shiva, Ifrit or Quaetzacotl to make items from spells then.
Transform the Stones to 80 lvl 3 spells of your choice and junction those spells to squalls str.
You will be able to one hit kill most enemies on CD1 and also some of CD 2 with this.
You can improve this effect with Ifrits Str +20% and str +40%. Get them early.

Beat that game about 5-6 times (most times in german language though, so terminology might be troublesome sometimes), you can pm me if you have questions.

You can draw Siren from El Voile on the Tower in Dollet.

Best Party

Squall - Lionheart is the best damaging move in the game.

Irvine - His limit is a good move too for damage

Zell - His limit is also really good, you can keep looping specific moves and do the correct inputs in about .20 seconds if you're fast enough. Leading to a lot of damage

Don't level up your guys until much later in the game, just focus on drawing a lot of spells, collecting items, and gaurdianforces. This reason for this is the later gf's have an ability which gives you +1 bonus to a stat when you level up. Focus on maxing out your strength, ESPECIALLY on Irvine. With his strength really high his quick shot limit does massive amounts of damage.

Don't ignore your evasion junction abilities on later GFs, I actually preferred junctioning Ultima to evasion it gives you about 33% evasion, and you won't get hit by anything that does physical damage.

Some newb tips

Draw from everything before you kill them so you won't miss any GFs or hard to come by spells.

The spell upgrading abilities on GFs are invaluable for getting powerful spells early in the game, takes a lot of work though.

Monsters level up with you, so rushing to a high level early doesn't really put you at an advantage. A lot of people say it'll make your party weaker, but I've personally never had this problem.

All I can really think of at the moment.

Oh yeah also ST-Atk-J with blind, or death is pretty good early on.
