Dying? It has about 50% the playerbase that wow has. Interesting term of dying.

6~8 thousand ppl on at one time on one server

I just quit the game for good about a month ago. I played on Fenrir, and the server always had a consistent number of people online. I didn't really notice it "dying", just that everyone was so high level and had already done so much that it was hard to do anything that wasn't end-game really. That's the biggest problem with the game, if you don't know the right people, it's hard to get anything done. And, even when you know the right people, it takes a while to get it done still. Besides that, it's a fantastic MMO, the best one ever made. It's just a matter of how much time you're willing to put into it.

I've played FFXI for 5 years on and off, probably 2 of those years being actual playing 3-5 night a week... It might be because I was on a bad server, but I wasn't even close to getting the xbox achieve req (i played on pc and xobx)
not to mention, there's just so much to do, with 4 expansions and about to be a new max level, so I'm sure there will be at least 50 new achieves with it.
Not a recommended if your an achieve whore, but it really is a fantastic game, #1 MMO if someone asked my opinion.
