it was the best game in the final fantasy series in my opinion.

It's my 2nd fav after 7 ofc (tie with FFIX and FF Tactics).

Has a GREAT story, the card game is addicting and the characters are all cool.

It is a terrible game

The story is awful, and childish. It should be made for under 13 year olds, its really that boring.

The battle system is SLOW, and the skills gain from equipment is tedious.

The characters themselves (aside from the main character and the dumb fat knight) are good, but the story takes away from them.

Overall, spend money elseware. If this game was titled anything other than FINAL FANTASY, it would have been forgotten long ago.

Hmm...well overall it seems pretty good from reviews although there are some bad ones i think i'll give this one a try though just to say i did as a final fantasy fan xD

dont listen to anyone. its by the far the best one. ff 7 was highly over-rated...it just had the best character personalities..

ff 9 has the best battle system, you learn skills by equipping items and once u master the skill you can still use it without having the item equipped (way better than having a materia in a weapon slot)

graphics were insane as you would imagine being the last one on the playstation, very long so its a great couple of hours of game play, card game is very addicting

and ff 8 was just emo.

ff 9 > ff 10 > ff 7 > the rest.

This is one criticism of the game that I absolutely do not agree with. The story isn't any more childish than the stories in most other RPGs, especially Final Fantasy games. The story contains a lot of death and destruction (Burmecia, Cleyra and Terra to name three instances of it), arguably more than any other FF game, characters wondering about their very existance and purpose, and then finding out that they were created as mere puppets and tools of war (Vivi and Zidane), at the expense of the lives of other people, planets whose very existances require death on a large scale (i.e. the cycle of souls between Gaia and Terra), and so on. Even the mist in the game is the product of thousands of deaths. I'd hardly call that childish.

The only childish thing I can think of in the game is the appearance of some of the characters, but people who judge the story based on that are just graphics whores.

Not liking the story because you find it to be boring or awful? Fine, there's nothing wrong with that. Not liking the story because it's childish? No, I can't agree with that.

no its not bad at all, just because you dont like a game doesnt make it bad. for example, i personally do not like ff10 and 12 what so ever. but theyre not bad games, i just personally didnt care for them.

the graphics are a little colorful, thats the only thing i could see you calling it childish for. this game is by no means one of my favorites, and i personally wouldnt recommend it has a first final fantasy for someone to play. and i agree with you, this game would have been much less known if it wasnt a final fantasy game, it would be in the distance like legend of legaia and chrono cross, which also were good games, (underrated if you ask me).
any ways, what im tryin to say is ITS NOT A BAD GAME AT ALL and you overreact to games that you personally didnt like.

hmmm....i didn't like x-2 all that much BUT i did like it better than 12 for damn sure...but that's just me
