FFVIII was a pathetic arttempt at keeping the hype going that FFVII started. VIII and X are the worst FF's.
Total vouch
FF8 was more experimental than any of its predecessors in the series, and that experiment failed.
The story was looking pretty good and well organized until the witch from the future was mentioned. Then this became a failed attempt to make another Chrono Trigger, which only resulted in a time traveling story with so many holes, the writers had to make pathetic plot devices (time compression?) in order to put it together.
The magic system asserted absolutely no value to your mages as it was not they who possessed the magic as their own talent; magic was just a stock and could be interchanged between characters. It shouldn't have been called magic, it should have been called "Items B".
The game was incredibly easy. I never stopped to grind, I tried to push through it as fast as possible. And I certainly didn't use summons; not once, as they were just ridiculous and destroyed everything, making things no fun. Despite those measures, it was still too easy.
The music was amazing. Gods bless Nobou Uematsu, the only competent man, it seems, during the development of FF8.
