I think it's a smart move from a publisher standpoint.

For starters this is old news.

Secondly, the FF series is primarily a console seller in Japan, rather than NA. Xbox360 isn't getting a Japanese version of the game in Japan, and the PS3 version in Japanese is coming to Japan before NA/EU gets their copies.

My thought is that this is favour to the fans, maybe they're just showing off their new incredible game... If 13 is a hit, and 14 goes exclusive on PS3... Every FF-fan with a Box will be buying a PS3.

And I'm SO glad I'm getting the PS3 version... No need to worry about my console blowing up and needing to start over.

well Versus XIII is still a PS3 exclusive and the hype about XIII/versus is pretty much the same (versus' might be even higher), so it's not a reason enough for a FF fan to buy 360 to play FFXIII.
If you would at the same time be interested in Mistwalker products and have some extra money then ye sure 360 is a way to go.
