Yeah and considering the PS2 is the best selling gaming console of all time, I don't think Sony is "fucked" whatsoever lol
FPS on console systems does totally blow though tbh, on any system, i'd much rather play on a computer than even Halo 1 or 2
But i'm not going to buy any of the new systems, i've played them and my brother has PS3, and it's fun and all but there are better things to spend money on if you realize that with any of the systems, you're talking $500 to get started then $50 per game, if you buy 10 games that's $1000; 20 games = $1500.. i'd much rather put that money towards say a boat or a motorcycle and go outside than have a shiny new game system.
For me it was an easier decision, I got a discount (thanks price matching) on my PS3, for 379.99 which was 429.99 in after taxes, it had what I needed besides and HDMi cable (19.99, thanks local retailer who isn't futureshop ROFL) and then I bought my games used with a 1$ warranty (Enchanted Arms 29.99, NFSC 29.99, Marvel 29.99) which gave me a large enough library for the first while, plus my friend owns a PS3 and he lends me his games he is done with, so that really works out to my advantage.
I used to agree about console FPS but with the constant changing in computer specification demands you cannot buy a budget, low end system and expect to run any new FPS' at decent settings, or atleast lag free.
One thing I will say, if the PS3 get's to 299.99 OR 349.99 before BluRay players become mainstream it's probably one of the biggest steals you can get for a console that doubles as a multimedia center, and atleast you have one in your proximity (your brother)
