Older being FF1 - FFX-2 (I believe that's the range, (I haven't played the older game boy versions, XI, or XIII-2) Where your characters and enemies are still and there are basic commands you chose from.

Newer being XII - On. Where you roam the area engaging in battles where your characters and enemies move?

Or it doesn't matter because it's Final Fantasy. I'll play it and like it no matter what the battle system.

It may sound confusing because you still have basic commands in the new one, but the battle system is a little different.

For me, I perfer the old school.

You cant really compare the battlesystem from XII with XIII and XIII-2. Its quite uniq..And it seems like you forgot the tactic games.

I really enjoy the battlesystems in all the games, but i would definatly go for the "old school" ones and i think most FF fans would..

It doesn't matter. And not because the reason that it's "Final Fantasy" and I'll like it no matter what, that would be an incredibly dense reason.

Battle systems really don't matter to me in an RPG. I play for the story and the character development.

My aplogolies for the horrible wording and forgetfulness of this post. I was basically just asking if you like the other set up and newer set up. Though I do agree if I could edit this post still I would add tactics and take out the "I'll like it no matter what".

Flames deserved.

Mm, they can't really be compared. I like them both, can't really say I like one more than the other.

Tactics was the best FF game anyways :) ps1 :)

Old one for sure, I haven't been able to get into the new battle systems, but that doesn't mean they are better or worse.

It annoyed me they changed the battle system for their main games, I wish they had called the games with the new system "Final Fantasy Whatever"( like they did with Tactics or Crystal Chronicles) instead of continuing on from XI, and kept the original line for Classic RPG games. Final Fantasy XI and XIV should hav been called Final Fantasy Online too.

I like them all save for 11 and 14. Not a big MMO fan.

The battle system has been tweaked in every single game.. It's not identical in any FF game. So saying that XII and XIII shouldn't have numbers because they are different too is a pretty absurd statement. Final Fantasy XI and XIV are both called FF Online as well.

This is how I feel. I'll stomach any battle system, regardless of how shitty it is, just to see how the story unfolds.

Yeah they system changed a bit from game to game, but they were all still classic turnbased RPGs; this changed after X-2. IMO they should have kept the main line for classic turn based RPGs, and created a new line of games for other battle systems. And even though 11 and 14 are also called FF Online, that's not their official name and they are placed in the main FF line, which imo is no place for an MMO.
