it has already been released in japan and these are some of the reviews i read on it
"The whole game is completely linear until halfway through [approximately 20 hours].
(See above, some of the most reknowned games in gaming were completely linear).
Most of the Final Fantasy games are completely linear up to a certain point.
There are hardly any towns.
The party is always fixed. The whole game just repeats the movie-battle sequence over and over [In fact the progression is closer to movie-run-battle-run-movie-boss-movie-run-battle…].
Whats so different or bad about that? What else is there....you have battle, story and movement across the world.
There are rather a lot of movies.
Again I dont see what the problem is.
Moving around is like a long marathon.
The whole game system is just a clone of FF10.
(If anything, this might turn me off to it, I disliked FFX a great deal.)
Not a problem for a LOT of FF fans I personally LOVED FFX
You can’t flee battles [You can’t avoid most battles either as there is no sneaking past enemies, including weak ones].
Annoying but really I fight EVERY SINGLE battle I get into and why not for more xp.
Your party is completely healed after each battle.
(Dragon Age and Mass Effect do this... no one complained there)
Ok this takes a bit away from the challenge not much to say here.
If the main character in your party dies it is game over [There are only ever 3 characters in battle, often less, and often fixed].
(Baldur's Gate did this, and I hated it for it. Enemy AI ceaselessly went after my character.. It was as if the Dire Wolves and Giant Spiders were in on the villain's evil plan).
Yea that would suck and not make sense but it just means you'll have to play defensively with your main char.
The best tactic is almost always endlessly attacking. There is next to no strategy or skill involved.
Thats usually the best tactic for most other FF games too. No use in wasting your magic when you dont have to or need to. Even on bosses.
The summons’ transformation scenes are a joke [i.e. Odin turning into a horse].
Just different. Different isnt alway bad. Would you like them to release the same FF game year after year after year...I wouldnt.
The story is rubbish… [Spoilers omitted, but complaints centre on Snow’s constant and cringe inducing insistence that he is a hero and will “protect” whatever it is the antagonists are menacing this time]
(Sounds like it will play as an episodic TV show... Final Fantasy, Power Rangers edition...)
Again it seems like they are taking a lot of different approaches with it so Im still going to give it a chance.
Shopping is only done at “online” shops on save points, with no proper shops to be found.
Meh...
However, this doesn’t matter as you hardly ever get any money [and you can never buy anything more powerful than what you already looted].
Which is good imo. Powerful items should be obtained instead of bought.
There have been next to no changes from the demo.
The status screen displays no real information.
There are only 8 items usable in combat [For that matter, there are hardly any weapons or accessories, and the “crafting” system mostly consists of spending drops to upgrade their 2 stats].
There are no levels.
There were no levels in FFX and I thought it was an AMAZING system.
With all their advertising money, just how was it they failed even to get Famitsu to give full points?"
Not saying the game will be perfect and if these are your points Im not trying to say your completely wrong for thinking that but Im just saying take into account how things were in the past and they arent SO different it sounds like.
I really REALLY wish they'd bring back the fucking world map though....thats bothered me since FFX....
