I didn't see a thread like this in the top 50 so I figured I might as well make one. I'm generally interested in knowing what people liked and didn't like about certain Final Fantasy games. You may want to flame me for some of my comments, but I stand by everything I've said.
I'm not going to get into certain games though, like FF I for Nintendo. It's far to old of a game, and I just don't feel like talking about it because there isn't really much to talk about it. Same with IV, I didn't really play it enough to get a good opinion about it. My Snes version was broken, and I couldn't save my game.
I haven't played Final Fantasy II, III, or XI.
I'll just start with...
Final Fantasy VI
Likes;
Lots Of Characters and Secrets.
Free to use anyone in your party. (No Set Leader)
Decent story line.
Dislikes;
Stupid Secrets, such as saving certain chests in the world of balance because they contain much better loot in the world of ruin.
Certain parts of the game are completely ridiculous. Such as when Cyan's castles water gets poisoned... All the people just die all of a sudden, it made no sense. If it vapored then Cyan would of died as well.
Kefka is annoying. He was a decent character, but he was annoying and looked like a clown.
You can't control your character in the battle arena.
Realm is completely useless so is that Yeti.
You needed sprint shoes to walk faster... Ugh horrible idea.
Final Fantasy VII

Materia system was nice
The Ultimate weapons were a slight challenge. (Until I realized they're easy as shit.)
All the characters had good back ground stories. It wasn't very bizarre or over the top, unlike other games. (Excluding Cloud's back story. It had some stupid parts.)
That giant snake was bad ass.
Sephiroth before Cloud killed him the first time.
Dislikes;
W-Summon, and Mime ruined the game completely.
Lucky 7777's ruined the game as well.
Stupid bugs, example... W-Item dupe.
The final limit breaks were all unbalanced and either, too good, or not good enough.
Game was to fucking easy.
Sephiroth after Cloud killed him the first time. The story just turned into complete ass around this point. When it started to talk about the re-birth of him, etc. etc.
Final Fantasy VIII
Likes;
Character building and junction system were very good. Excluding the magic usage part.
Zell's Limit was awesome.
Summons actually had a use other than summoning and wasting your time.
Getting certain items, took immense work. To get the godliest shit, it actually took a long time to do.
The Story was good until it got into the whole Future Edea bullshit.
The card system.
Dislikes;
Squalls Lionheart was to overkill
The weapon system. (I didn't like the fact you couldn't just buy new weapons. You had to find parts for them and shit. BUT* at the same time, I also liked this. So don't get me completely wrong.)
Everything was easy as hell, except for Omega weapon.
Monsters level up when you do almost made leveling up to 100 pointless
The junction system made magic useless because using it would lower your stats.
Drawing magic was tedious and boring as hell.
Every character was tied with each other in the past. (To ridiculous for my liking.)
Final Fantasy IX

NOTHING
Dislikes;
This list could go on forever... so uh, EVERYTHING (I seriously hated FF9, it's a stain on the series in my opinion.)
Final Fantasy X
Likes;
The battle system was alright, I kind of liked the defining combat roles of characters early game.
Some bosses were actually a really big challenge, even if you worked your balls off at power leveling some still proved to be a huge challenge.
The concept of "Sin" was really good.
It dealt with religion, which could of been reflected on todays religions, other than a giant monster that goes around slaying people. People do that to each other instead.
The monster arena provided new and hardcore challenges
Pretty good story line.
Damage cap could be changed to 99 999 instead of the usual 9999.
Dislikes;
Lack of a main "bad guy", I mean there was Seymour and Sin, but they didn't really provide unlike previous main antagonists.
Late game, with the right set up, you could get 50 sphere levels a battle from the monster arena. It made the game to easy.
Lack of "Ultimate Bosses" there was a few, but I really didn't find them all that ultimate. Even if your set up wasn't perfect.
The walking... Oh my god... The fucking walking... So much walking...
The limit breaks weren't instant win when you used them.
End boss was extremely fucking easy. (Not that little thing, but Jecht)
Final Fantasy X-2
Likes;
You could change your class whenever.
You could replay it after you beat it. With your current items.
Dislikes;
The final ending, wasn't worth all the fucking effort.
Hmm, I pretty much didn't like everything about this game other than what's in the likes. The story fucking sucked.
Final Fantasy XII
Likes;
Gil was actually useful.
Bausch
The Judges were pretty cool.
Hunts provided a slight challenge at times. It was also fun too sometimes.
Vayne was actually a very plausible antagonist.
Some very nice cut scenes.
No ultra cheap limit breaks, or any limit breaks for that matter.
I liked how they put hard monsters in easy areas early on in the game. If you were committed enough you could kill them, and get mad levels fast.
Dislikes;
Monster chaining system
Some items took to much work to get (Such as the Danjuro dagger, you had to chain RARE monsters like 20391201329 times to get it. It's already hard enough to get a rare monster to spawn, let alone chain a shit load of them)
The story blew, it could of been much better.
The battle system was to fast, and gambits made them to easy. Also they were far to frequent.
Some spells were just to cheap, like reverse.
The end boss was a complete joke.
They didn't explain shit about the Viera, I found them slightly interesting, but the game took them no where.
Discus, and post your own opinions about them.
