I asked this earlier in a thread but I forget what the answer was & where I asked it.

What card games are out there right now that are:

1) One-time payment model, or free, with no packs or per-card fees.
2) Not overly grind-fest heavy.
3) Focused on the fun of actually playing the game (PvP, any sort of storyline, etc), rather than a focus on acquisition of cards, completion of missions for resources, etc?
4) Interesting (cards are interesting, mechanics of the rules make for an interesting game, player-base is reasonable).

Probably the best version of a card game I had was MWS (Magic Workstation). However, the player-base was bad (people were salty fucks on that thing), and rules were not automatically implemented (player-based rule enforcement). Also, there was no ladder system.

Hearthstone is fine, but I'm finding more and more I'm not even doing my dailies. The game is boring, and if I don't keep up on dailies I'll have to pay for the next expansion which I don't have high hopes for, given every other expansion has fizzled out pretty fast... ladder is also a grind-fest, and hasn't seen any changes since it was first implemented.

Try Shadowverse. Its business model is buying packs but they literally give you tons of free packs and gold. Its extremely F2P friendly not to mention overall better than Hearthstone.

Hearthstone and MTG are the best card games right now.

MTG you can play online with either Magic: The Gathering Online if you want to actually earn cards with value and compete for prizes, or you can play on XMage which is like MWS but offers automatic rule enforcement and matchmaking and all that jazz.

Hearthstone if you aren't using specific decks you can't even play the game..
And they're completely against like 95% of combo decks
'
All the other games have waymore fun decks

Welcome to all popular card games

If those games were 1/10th as popular as Hearthstone they'd develop strict metas as well.

I'm not talking about meta. I'm talking about game flow/pace.
I'm saying if you try to make a creative deck you'll lose the game before you can even do anything
And Hearthstone hates combo decks which are some of the most fun you can have in any card game :D

Other card games have actual advantages for defensive play (In Legends you get more cards from taking damage with the potential to have free cards played, in Eternal the defender has advantage in combat so you can lose minions by attacking similar to MTG. Hex also has advantages for defense.)

Hearthstone just seems poorly designed in comparison where it's all about hitting curves and hitting face with nothing your opponent can do in the meantime and no other macro strategies besides trying to out-value someone before they kill you.
With every combo removed and with every turn faster the game gets per expansion.. it just became less and less interesting to me.

And I think many people in this subforum are starting to agree.

I don't think there's any way I could agree to Hearthstone being even close to the best.
