i've been saving my gold for a while and can't remember and/or didn't notice some things about card packs.
1. do classic card packs contain cards from adventures or cards that are going to be rotated out shortly?
2. do card packs from arena rewards contain the same cards as classic packs?

No, classic packs only contain cards from the Classic Set. Different sets have different cards in them, for example The Grand Tournament packs only contain cards from TGT, same with Whispers of the Old Gods. However, you can craft cards from ANY set, including past ones to be used in Wild and Tavern Brawl by using Dust. Buying adventures is the only way to obtain those cards, you cannot craft them or receive them in packs. Arena awards typically award the NEWEST set card pack first, and if you do really well you have the chance to get multiple packs, and those are randomly chosen between Classic, TGT, and OG. They follow the same structure as explained above.

EDIT: The Classic set will ALWAYS be a part of the standard format, so they are valuable especially for new players since they will never rotate out.
