Why is this card not played? Curious as to your opinions.

You get 14/14 of value for 9 cost.

too slow, doesnt doo enough when it comes on the battlefield, 9 mana cards u usually can only have 1-2 in a deck at best and there are better 9 mana dragons etc etc

some guy played that against me yesterday at rank 4, in a mage with spells and flamewakers, it was weird as fuck. then he lost.

It overloads the board and you have to deal with them all.

swipe deals with them pretty well


but for comparison sake

Blast mage /flamewalker / freeze mage spells
hellfire/shadowflame
whirlwind / deathsbite / ghoul
holy nova / auchenie circle / lightbomb
concecration /healing /taunts
explosive trap / unleash the hounds
lightning storm
Fan of knives/ blade flurry.

these are all usable cards in top tier decks and make onyxia just bad overall because of it.

Swipe kills the 1/1s and leaves an 8/4. That's 2 cards you need to trade for 1.
No matter what you seem to be trading 2 for 1. And that's if you have BOTH answers.

in theory its good. in practice its not.

but dont let anyone stop you from trying it, and if you do. i suggest things that synergize with it. savage roar for example

I'm just wondering what people's arguments are for not running it.
Has lots of potential with token buffers.

Like if they don't play an AoE you just win the game. And it's likely they already played lots because you're already a token deck as is.

If you have to waste your board clear on 1 card then it's a pretty good card..

You get 14/14 assuming you have nothing on your board.

It's not run because the card has no immediate impact for 9 mana. Does it fill your board? Yes. Does that actually do anything a lot of the time? No...... lol. For 9 mana you can get ysera, 4/12 and at least 1 extra card. Ysera has WAYYYYYYY more upside potential though. For 9 mana you could have Nef which is an 8/8 and 2 spells. Every big leg that gets played has an immediate impact outside of just existing on the board.

Nef and Ysera have no immediate effect on the board at all. You can't do anything with them the turn they are played.
Neither does Onyxia, but gives you 6x 1/1s to immediately threaten them while Ysera gives you 1 random card that can be trash.
The 1/1s can at be used to combo with bloodlust, savage roar
And it's better at trading against aggressive decks that have lots of minions on board.

That's like saying Dr. Boom is trash. Does it fill your board? Yes. That's all.
