i'm new to the game and i don't plan to spend money into it.
what would be the most efficient way to spend my gold in order to grow?
i have only opened the free card packs and i still have all my gold (~1300).
i was thinking about arenas since it would level the playing field at least cardswise and i would only need a few wins to break even but the fact that the card pack you get is GvG is a bit of a drawback since i still need all the important cards from the basic set.
should i unlock BRM or CoN wings?
should i just get card packs from the basic set?

card packs from the basic set to start yourself out. figure out some of the essentials that you will need.
also, get the BRM and CoN wings to catch up on a lot of the useful cards.
if you're good at arena then yes go straight to arena and invest your gold into that, if not just buy packs and learn the meta in constructed.

best way to start would be to grind arena, read a bunch of guides and get a good idea for how to draft your deck, what cards to look for to get win conditions in your deck and just general good card quality.

If you average at least 7 wins in arena you will get a pack and your 150 gold back.

And honestly I wouldn't advise buying the wings with gold, it's like a pretty ridiculous amount of gold to get all of the wings so you might as well just drop the $50 and never spend money anywhere else on the game until future expansions.

Otherwise once you've stockpiled 2k gold or so feel free to buy classic packs whenever you want.

Averaging 7 wins in arena is incredibly hard

Agree on spending money for the wings

This.Atleast for newbie player it's almost impossible to achieve even 5 wins in arena.Imo not worth to play arena until u are little bit familiar with the game.U can sit days in Twitch to look streamers play this game or search from forums.I would buy first 2 wings from naxx cause u get sludge belcher and loatheb, then I will spend rest of money to classic packs.Later u should ofc open all Naxx wings and ( only good wing )from BMR 1st wing. When u buy packs dont disenchant anything until u know u not gonna use it or u know that its crap card.

Even if you only get 3-4 wins you're still getting more value out of the 150 gold than simply buying a pack. However I disagree about it being extremely hard to average 7 wins in arena, all the resources are out there now to know how to do. Just put in some effort.

Do you track stats? I have a feeling a lot of people who claim to average 7 really don't because they don't realize how much bad runs hurt your average

Considering I bought 40 packs for gold last week and still have 655 gold left I think I'm doing fine.

So you don't track stats. Try tracking every run you do and I think you'll be surprised what your average is.

Before I started tracking I thought I averaged 7 wins since most of my runs are 7+, but I actually average just over 6.

So then you're averaging 220+ gold for your 150 gold investment and therefor it is far more than worth it to do so.

Even if you manage only 3 wins on average you're averaging 150 gold worth of rewards for the arena. Therefor arenas are better than buying packs if you get 3+ wins, everybody should be able to average 3+ wins.

I'd say I likely average somewhere between 6 and 7 wins. I could be above 7 but I only play arena when I'm bored. I only track how many 12 wins I have, and out of 1073 arena wins total I've had 23 12 win runs, I don't know where that leaves the rest of my wins on average because I don't know my total arena runs. However I'm pretty confident that I'm above average.
