Lmao that last sentence is all I need to know you have no fucking clue what you're talking about. Mad scientist is used because it draws and plays a card for free. It's both card advantage and tempo. It's not one of the best cards in the game because of its deck thinning ffs

Fetch lands are for deck thinning. Card advantage draw spells are not.

in tempo mage AI is used cause you mostly run out of cards. You play all your low drops and get stuff out for cheap. Intellect is often used to refill a little so you don't run out of things to do..

in freeze mage it's used to find your burn/freeze and pretty much anything to survive till you can combo them. So drawing cards is key. Neither time is it really used to thin out your deck.

It does help you get to your better stuff which is kind of the same thing in theory i guess.

Obviously it needs to be adjusted for a 30 card deck for Hearthstone since going from 30 to 29 cards is a bigger jump than 60 to 59 but the general idea remains true.

This is all on top of the fact that the card costs fucking 3 mana.

Srsly, stop overrated deck thinning. This discussion has already been had thousands of times among professional MTG players and the consensus is that cards used exclusively for deck thinning have an extremely marginal benefit.



Mad scientist could be "Deathrattle: Put a copy of a secret card from your deck into play" and it would be almost exactly as good, despite having NO deck thinning effect.
