Been working on Quest Mage.

Liking:
2x Mana Wyrm
2x Counterspell

Not liking:
- freeze spells
- doomsayer (haven't run him in forever though)

I'm finding freeze spells give maybe 1-2 turns extra, tops. Once you take lethal, or get in lethal range, they're useless. Getting Mana Wyrm down on the field provides good stall, and it's also a win con enhancer.

I'm testing the deck with 2x Ethereal Arcanists as well. Still with combo in deck, but the idea I'm moving towards is being able to drop combo pieces on the field & not worry about losing them.

forgot I opened the priest quest card two weeks ago and I haven't even built a deck with it yet -_-

... How many turns of extra life did you expect out of a one turn freeze exactly?

Freeze could still be the best option and staple. How much freeze is another question, but I'm experimenting with zero freeze in favour of more significant early and mid-game board presence.

I like freeze spells, but the meta is pretty tough with hunter, pirate warrior, quest rogue, etc. Freeze is really swing or miss, and often decks find ways around it so that you get 0 or maybe 1 turn extra out of freezing the board. In some situations you might draw say... 2 freezes back to back... but then you usually miss out on drawing up on those turns, so the net effect is minimal.

I really like mana wyrm even with freeze. If it gets taken out it often buys some life/time. If it stays alive, it can get out chunks of damage & change the win con route.

i own all the exodia pieces for yugioh but idk where my cardds are
got gate guardian set too
prob worth a few bucks?
