Freeze could still be the best option and staple. How much freeze is another question, but I'm experimenting with zero freeze in favour of more significant early and mid-game board presence.

freeze spells are gay
I like freeze spells, but the meta is pretty tough with hunter, pirate warrior, quest rogue, etc. Freeze is really swing or miss, and often decks find ways around it so that you get 0 or maybe 1 turn extra out of freezing the board. In some situations you might draw say... 2 freezes back to back... but then you usually miss out on drawing up on those turns, so the net effect is minimal.
I really like mana wyrm even with freeze. If it gets taken out it often buys some life/time. If it stays alive, it can get out chunks of damage & change the win con route.
