50 gold x 365 days = 18,250 gold (182 packs). Enough for one xpac, not two.

Realistically need to drop $150-$200 plus grind a bit this year to keep up. Not doing that.

It'd be more along the lines of 140 gold per day

140x365 = 51.1k which is 511 packs. Plus what they give you free, plus your dust from disenchanted cards from arena/brawl packs.

40 gold is minimum per quest, and 100 can be farmed in 30 wins. Takes a while, sure, and not many people have time for that shit, but I will usually get 30-40 gold per day in wins plus whatever rando quest I have. We'll be fine

That number is way too high, especially as an "average player calculation for 365 days". This works for people who play 8+ hours per day in regular (ladder) games or several hours of arena if they got a great winrate (7+).

I would calculate with 50 gold per day from quests and 20 gold on average for winning games.

70 x 365 = 25550 gold which is ~255 packs (roughly 85 packs per expansion plus maybe 40 classic packs from tavern brawls).

1 farmed game = 5 minutes on average?
win rate = 70% (casual)?
~= 3 hours and 34 minutes of farming per day to get 100 gold.

Where do I fit 3 hours and 34 minutes of farming per day? That's nearly 50% of a full working day spent every day on Hearthstone? To acquire 100 gold (approx $1.50 in game currency)!?

Lunacy. That's 43 cents per hour... I'm not slaving over that for the sole purpose of gold. Homeless people make more money per hour just sleeping on a street corner.


To put it into perspective:
Spend 463 hours grinding for 200 packs (equivalent of 11.5 work weeks) OR just over $200 USD for 200 packs (equivalent of 1 work day)

If even 2% of your time spent grinding felt like work, you could've spent that 2% of the 463 hours (8 hours of work) and earned $200 USD.

11.5 work weeks vs. 1 work day... :-/
