Discardlock has been pretty top tier before. Discarding your hand when you have life tap + discard synergy is not always a bad thing.
/e And aggro hunter was the the best deck at one point. What do you mean?
If you read through forums at HearthPwn or even Blizzard's own forums there is a common theme among Hunter players which is that they want to see more variance in the class. People often say they feel like being shoehorned into Face Hunter is just anti-fun for both the players and their opponents. And since the broken 1 drops keep rollin out and Face Hunter loses to decks faster than it you can bet Pirates will still reign supreme and Hunter will be in the same exact spot it is currently. Hunter players have consistently asked for control cards and more card draw options but Blizzard seemingly continues to push the beast buff archetype down people's throats- the same exact thing they did with Discolock. And Discolock didn't become decent until they printed obviously broken cards. If that means hunter has to get a broken 1 drop like Malchazar's Imp just to be viable that STILL doesn't address the issue of a single archetype for an entire playable class AND contributes to the major complaint about every single expansion which is they keep printing broken 1 drops and aggro reigns supreme.
All I play on my main account is Handlock and Ungoro hasn't seen any control warlock cards thus far which is pretty disappointing for me. Even if the cards revealed are objectively "good" for aggro warlock..who gives a fuck? Blizzard is giving control players the middle finger and forcing people to play pussy ass priest if they want to play control. Priest is for little fairies! Yea I said it.
