Players can make a read on cards sitting in your hand for several turns. Assuming they make a misread by you holding onto it is optimistic. They still have more information than if you play the older one.
They have much less of an idea what recently drawn cards could be.
Goes both ways though.
If they don't know what's in your hand they may play safe and end up not misplaying.
But if you trick them into thinking you just drew it the last turn or 2 they might assume you don't have another.
