idk, to me hearthstone's charm was it's noob-friendliness.
if i wanted to play a serious card game and spend hundreds of dollars, i'd play mtgo or hex or whatever.
hearthstone gets pretty stale like 3 months into every expansion.

I personally think it's stale already. You play the same repetitive decklists that tournament players make and rarely anything new or refreshing.
I do like how "noob-friendly" it is, the learning curve is simple and to the point.. allowing for easy teaching/playing for new players.
Again, just personal opinion.. I'm not sure an expansion is the answer, I just want to see some diversity and originality.

e: Some of these cards look ridiculous though, don't get me wrong.
RNG is a big factor in winning games, which I don't like at all.. and it looks like it's going to be nearly all luck of the draw.

You keep mentioning "hundreds of dollars" but there are plenty of players that spend at most $50 (the normal amount to spend on any video game) and have any deck they want.

and they play 12 hours a day lol

im not bad at arena, i can manage 0$. my point is still that it seems like negative value for what you get in return.

Arena is the best way to make gold/cards/dust in the game.
If you're good you should be able to play arena infinitely and still make cards/gold/dust.

And no, not 12 hours a day.

I play like 1 hour a day OR LESS (sometimes not at all) and still have no problem keeping gold/dust up for each new expansion

New players that don't put anything into the game are never expected to be any good...
This goes for every game.

You aren't entitled to anything anywhere

but again, hearthstone was very noob-friendly pre-gvg.

has it become stale? yes
does it need a new expansion? yes
are you supposed to play a ccg for free? no

i'm just saying that it's come to a point where it's equal to other competitive tcg's in price, but not in quality.
