Went to a fireside gathering last night (I live in Korea) and it was really fun. I didn't know there were prior tourney sign ups so I just showed up and they said I couldn't join because they had capped a 16 man bracket. However, one person failed to join, so I got to play after all. As luck would have it, (though I think this is correct bracket theory) I was matched up against the guy who was rank 6 on Asia server last night lol. He beat me 3-0 in conquest format, but I played well and he said he I was a lot better than he expected.
Afterwards there were quite a few side events. One was a lottery where we all opened a pack and whoever had the highest rarity with the highest mana cost won a prize. I happened to pull Onyxia and won a hearthstone pillow

The next side event was a game mode where the first to suicide wins (without using warlock). I saw kripp play this on stream a long time ago, so I knew the best deck to choose was priest. I won my first round, but the next player played a similar deck as I did but he played auchenai reno combo before I could fatigue myself. The next side event was figuring out a lethal puzzle. There were 4 tables so the winners of each table went on to compete in the final puzzle. Mine involved a tricky double swap with crazed alchemist and the same spare part which I couldn't guess in time. Finally there was a betting event where the teams hosting the event had a showmatch and we had to bet which player would win. Overall I had a lot of fun and even though my KR account sucks compared to NA, I have a decent collection and some meta decks to compete with. If you guys have a chance to attend a fireside gathering, I'd definitely check it out. I made some new friends, got to practice Korean, and got to play with some very serious players (some of which are on the pro circuit here).
