well, i've spent most of yesterday playing this renolock deck. i've changed out a few things upon your suggestions throughout the day. (to what i have available)
took out summoning stone since everyone was so against it. also removed c'thun's chosen and added acidic swamp ooze and ironbeak owl.
the biggest issue with this deck was the lack of early game. way too many games yesterday i lost at round 5. 3 mages, 2 hunters and a pally all knocked me out on 5th turn.
i realize i don't have all the key cards to really make this deck.. but so far everyone has listed higher cost cards to me. i could use those cards for this deck sure, but i'd still need more ways to combat early game.
in a nut shell my original deck played better than my renolock deck. i feel lucky when i hit rank 19 with this deck.
any suggestions before i move on to looking at zoo build?
Reno//Handlock in general is basically the control//sometimes combo variant of warlock... And so its going to take a lot more dust//expensive cards then you would need in a zoo//midrangey list..
I really would play zoo 10/10 times before considering renolock while playing on the ladder, personally... Reno is far too inconsistent to make an enjoyable laddering experience. -- Maybe it would be fun in tournament - where you can almost expect a slightly slower meta.
I like your approach to learning the game though - and most people could probably learn a thing or two by approaching the game with a more open mind.. Its good that you want to experiment//try your own things.. I still experiment a lot with my own decklists//odd decks/techs -- and as long as* its not too far fetched, they usually perform just fine.
Keep playing games.. Experiment with cards, pay attention to your opponents decks//what people in general are playing.. doesn't hurt to catch a tournament or two for some inspirations.
goodluck
