Part of the reason ancient of lore is so good. 5/5 body and 4 mana battlecry for 7 mana. rofl

yes arcane intellect is a pretty mediocre draw spell

but it's still good enough for freeze mage since freeze mage is all about draw

It's right on par with every other draw spell. Lol they all cost ~2 mana a card and 1 card to cast the spell.

Ancient of lore is probably the best draw card in the game..... Maybe besides sprint, but that's only because of prep sprint.

doesn't mean it's good

also it's very misleading to say they cost 2 mana per card and 1 card to cast the spell, because spending 1 card to draw 2 cards and 1 card to draw 4 cards is a big difference in cost

Wat. It's just as good as the rest. Drawing cards should be a costly thing to do, they are very important.

You're using 1 card and 7 mana to draw 4 cards. How is this better than using 1 card and 3 mana to draw 2 cards? Yes you draw more cards... But you paid 1 extra mana to do it.

arcane intellect = +1 card for 3 mana, 3 mana per net card
sprint = +3 cards 7 mana, 2.33 mana per net card
nourish = +2 cards for 5 mana, 2.5 mana per net card

literally the only reason sprint is even played is because preparation exists, despite it being the most cost-efficient of the 3 draw spells

nourish is virtually never played despite it being more cost efficient AND having a second useful ability that can be chosen

arcane int is only good in spell decks and decks that require card draw to work

sprint has a lower card cost per card drawn of course (1 per 4 cards vs 1 per 2 cards)

Draw spells would be played a lot more in slower metas.
But this game has way too many face decks for them to be playable aside from arcane intellect. (And prep+sprint)

I see it more like this....

Sprint is played because you can sprint into a prep/flurry/evisc/oil that you need to win the game. 4 draws is unreal, even played at 7 mana. 4 draws for 4 with a prep is still great.

Nourish isn't played because ancient of lore is. a 5/5 that draws two cards is much better than drawing 3 cards for 2 less mana. I'll take the body any day. If ancient of lore didn't draw, I bet nourish would be way more utilized.

Arcane intellect is played in freeze mage as well as tempo mage, both are the primary mages in the meta right now. I can't even fathom trying to play either deck without ai. I even draft ai in arena...

Sprint and nourish are slow af. This why sprint is played and nourish isn't.

Saying arcane intellect only works in spell decks is like saying "it only works in most mage decks". The most popular ones are spell based lol.

ok? so the only reason is good is because it's also a spell, not only because its card draw effect is powerful which I thought is the whole point of the discussion (because its card draw effect isn't very good)
