Well, that's the whole point of it, you see it as wasting your money. I did not mean to offend you, although it's quite clear that we prioritize our money in very differnt ways. Hearthstone is a hobby of mine and I really could not care less about $25 spent on just that, a hobby that takes up quite a lot of my time.
I'm not rich in any way, but we simply have very different views on what is a waste of money. If we compare the cost of the expansion to what I could be doing for those $25, it would be something like 4 beer at the pub this weekend. I'm sure I could live without those in the event that it would be that much of an issue ^^
You seem to be way too hung up on the fact that you don't get anything from the expansion, so I ask you: what about all the hours of fun you get? I take it you don't value that at all?
The hours of fun were there prior to the expansion. The new content just doesn't offer much for the dollar.
The reason why I paid is because of the hours of enjoyment I will be getting out of the game.
The reason why I feel it's a waste is because of how little Blizzard is bringing to the table (for the price of $25), compared to what they could be. It's a matter of card creation first and foremost (content and cinematics aren't as important as the replayable multiplayer). There are a couple cards that are insanely exciting, and will offer some really cool options (ie. the new legendary unlocked today), but there's also an overwhelming amount of lameness. I was just hoping for something a little bit more substantial, even if it means maybe 5 cards more, but 5 higher-impact cards... or the introduction of a patch to do some minor rebalancing. Some sort of upkeep to spice up the metagame in a positive way.
Again, to be really clear, my criticism is that there's too few interesting cards being introduced for $25. It's not a collectible card game, it's a strategy/fun card game, and I just wish a $25 expansion would entail deeper injection of strategy and fun into the game. As it stands, this feels more like a little patch to prolong interest in the game, and this seems to be the yearly-cycle model... every 8-12 months, release a $25 expansion, and every 8-12 months release a full-blown expansion ($150-$200 if all cards wanted immediately within the first couple weeks, with 0 gold to start on release... for me, it's about $90 + 1.5-2.5 months of play for everything).
If you want to hear something positive: The game is fun. I do enjoy it. But the reason why I criticize it so much is because I'm so past posting interesting decklists and whatnot... and that's where the *real* fun is... and that's where my biggest criticism is.
