Pointless in this meta? No it isn't ridiculous. If miracle rogue was more popular, if handlock had different minions, if you don't get stomped by freeze mages even with loatheb (you probably will either way). In this meta there is no aoe that scares your 4/10s and 8/8s. For the last time, maybe he is right. Maybe everyone else is wrong, maybe loatheb is the way to go.

brawl? with the prevalence of control warrior and even brawl in patron
equality consecrate with the rise of both aggro and midrange paladins
huge oil rogue combos (you claim miracle rogue is dead, while oil rogue is one of the top decks by far)
mage combo decks and freeze finishers can be delayed so you can slam for lethal with minions
stops druid force roar combos
can prevent you from being bursted down by shaman
maybe to prevent shadowflame so you don't lose your entire board?

the list goes on, especially considering handlock, oil rogue, warrior, and arguably mage, paladin are all top decks on ladder.
