If the enemy has one or a few cards in his hands, it's good to know what it is/they are though...
Plus the card copied can actually be useful to you.

So the information is only useful if your opponent has no cards?

If they have no cards they're playing aggro. You just want healing or removal.

chameleos will be a staple in every priest deck.

What I like about it is against aggro you can probably get a cheap minion to fight for board, and against control you can get a more valuable late-game card.

Is using software like Innkeeper safe?

Yes, I have used it. Blizzard allows it.

Blizzard has said as long as the program does what you could do via pen and paper you're fine.
