I don't actually mean bring in a 9/16 card that clears the board for 10. I'm exaggerating. But I would like to see some interesting cards. Blizzard tends too much toward vanilla boring stuff. There's too few cards, and too little creativity options for competitive play.
I think some of the issues Blizzard has faced with card design gets back to the trade-offs they chose:
- No stack
- Consistent resources per turn
- Randomness to offset the monotonous play that predictable resource progression can cause
No stack really limits the strategy in this game. Significant and frequent randomness complicates this strategy-based game. That's all fine, but to top it all off the cards are mostly quite boring.
