It's becoming more diverse now with decks like Control Warrior, Midrange Hunter, Token Druid, Ele Shaman, Quest Shaman, Ele Mage, etc becoming optimized.
Don't get me wrong, I really have a soft spot for Hearthstone. I hate on it so much because I see so much potential, and I see a lot of stubborn philosophies being borrowed from Diablo III (and Diablo III was a big burn).
I think the new expansion shows a *TON* of promise. The cards and ideas they've brought in spell out some amazing potential for Hearthstone. But, it seems this happens over and over: The end result is what matters. Potential needs to come to fruition, otherwise it's just a cocktease.
I'll write a thread on this actually. Something a bit more intelligent, less negatively-driven, more weighing the pros and cons. I play Hearthstone still, but I have no desire to spend $$$ on it anymore, and I play it so much less than ever before. Wild is actually a lot cooler right now, I think... but Wild AND standard could be SO MUCH MORE FUN!!! IF! IF! If they just do a balance patch. Nerf only that which really absolutely has to be nerfed (not for power dynamics purposes, but actual game-breaking reasons)... but really *FOCUS* on buffing cards back into the game. Buff buzzard, bring it to 4-cost. Buff druid quest, bring it to requiring 4 minions... (alternative is to make hand & deck cost 0, and keep at 5, but that could be very broken in the future). There's a lot of other buffs that need to be brought into the game. I understand the mechanics of card games (bulk amounts of crap cards are necessary for a plethora of reasons that don't directly benefit the consumer, but indirectly are just necessary... and for arena that's important too).
If I weren't broke as fuck, and they did a major buff patch, I'd be paying regularly again (I'd preorder every expansion, plus pay for 10 arena runs on each full expansion release). Most of why I quit was to get away from gaming in general, but HS would be worthwhile with a philosophy shift.
