and tavern brawls aren't exactly ALWAYS fun

Sounds like a temporary ranked boost. Let's reward the people that have the best cards with even more stuff while ignoring the need for newer players to get into the game quicker with more rewards overall. Don't get me wrong, I've got just about every card I really want as a F2P but it took forever to get there.
