I reached rank 18, but now I am kind of going 1-1 every 2 games, cant really move up. What is the point in the game where you need to start spending money to compete? I'm seeing a bunch of cards that have crazy stats and people have a bunch of magic cards that activate these cards like crazy and I can barely keep up with clearing the board let alone damaging the enemy.

When you log on for the first time

you're expecting to compete with people who've been playing for years by your first day ?

A lot of people don't spend money and end up getting nice cards after a while.


Trump actually reached legend rank within 2 months on a new free to play account.

Can you give a better answer? If I can make it to the top 50% without any money, in one night first time playing, I am curious to know how far I can go before it's really pointless to even try.

It takes 3-4 months to make decent deck if free to play,check some utube videos save up some gold for adventures blackrock and league of explorers first wings are ok for start,do brawls for free pack when its out etc there are hiden quests for some extra gold also.

well, sorry but there's a ''barrier'' that cannot be crossed as a new player without buying extra packs right away.

There are multiple decks that can reach "legend" without spending a dime or using a legendary card

i don't think that's relevant here.

OP doesn't have any cards and you need cards with those.

Spending money will expedite the card getting process but doesn't improve your skill on how to play those cards.

Only time and experience will help you on the latter. Luckily, with time and playing frequent enough, you'll get those cards without spending any money.

It's sad but blizzard doesn't care. They don't want you to be competitive for free. Although it may take you some time to get some of the useful rare cards in a deck, you can certainly get to high ranks or even legend with just f2p decks. I got to rank 5 before I spent a dime on packs.
