I'm very rarely in a situation where I can use argus to make a value able trade so I often end up with one or two of them in my hand the whole game.

they are when it comes to an end game kill. usually use them to taunt up weaker minions to protect your bigger minions.
also taunt up nerubian egg to trigger death rattle.
yes they are worth it, however I think there are better cards now to suit the current meta.

Take one out and put in something else.

It is worth having at least one in my opinion.

As zoo, you should have board control so that 1 or 2 extra damage could be used to maintain board control or those damage might be the difference between a win or lose.

I use it for push damage or defense and it helps on ur eggs on the board doing nothing.

It's a 4 costing 4/5 double taunt
If you don't need the taunt it's not super worth it.

But you can use the taunt to protect high attack minions so they can attack freely.

I actually just dropped Defender of argus from my Zoolock deck.. Completely.

I don't think its needed.

I'm going to try taking one out and adding a BGH.

Zoo should win or be pushing lethal before bgh is necessary. The opponent shouldn't have time to play boom or any late drop really as they'll need more reactionary cards to counter the aggression.

There's no clear rules on when to use it. Sometimes it's very obviously the best play. Sometimes you have to use it to only buff one minion when it fits your curve and the other plays aren't any good.
