Hey guys! I've played Marvel Heroes a couple of days after release, but I was kinda disappointet
by the little variety of heroes you could choose from in the beginning. It also seemed to be quite
hard to get new heroes without spending money. And I think heroes havn't been tradeable back
then if I'm not mistaken.

Here's my question: Is it still that hard to get the hero you want to play without spending real money?
And how would you rate the changes the game has undergone so far (i.e. has the game become better
content/gameplay wise)?

Thanks for your input, aprreciate it! :)

The game has gotten a lot a lot allot better since when it first came out... There is a lot more stuff to do and i hear they are adding raids very soon.

Sounds very great! Thanks for your answer. I'd still like to know how hard it is to obtain new heroes. Are players
able to trade heroes now or have they added opportunities to get new heroes a little bit faster?

No ability to trade heroes**. If you played the game a couple days after release then the new system is infinitely better. No more random hero tokens, but rather a system similar to LoL (if you're familiar with the game) with it's IP. There are "Eternity Splinters" now, and it's 600 splinters for the most expensive heroes which would take ~ 80 hours of playtime. Not long considering some people went months without tokens at all AND you didn't even have a choice. I didn't play the game when it was release but started roughly 2-3 months after and the game is A LOT easier than what it used to be. Overall I like what they've done with the game and it's in a much better place than it was in... around November/December. A lot more end game options atm (No more hitting 60 and crafting Cow Portals or solo Red T4 Doom for the best gear). That's all that comes to mind so far, but if you want to know you can just download the game and experience it for yourself :D

Haha I really like what you are saying! Guess I'll give this game another shot :)
Any tips for someone who has practically no idea of this game at all? (I've played
through the second act as far as I remember).

Honestly, only thing I can recommend is to just play to get into the swing of things. Main thing you'll be hearing is HoD/GotK/MFH or Headband those are the main 3 artifacts people are trading now. Not sure which char you're playing but if you want a good idea of leveling builds go to Marvelbase or that particular hero's forum on the website to see what others are doing. If you are trying to level, do LQs (Legendary Quests) they give you really good EXP and also an item called Odinmarks which you can use for your Legendary weapon http://forums.marvelheroes.com/discussion/43212/all-legendary-items-compilation-patch-2-35-updated-28-3-14/p1 and also blessings which you can use on your artifacts. Anyway I think I've said enough haha just play the game to learn the rest! :D

Made it into the game now. Download was a real pain. Seems that I still have a level 19 storm with a full respec. Guess I gonna
test out some skills. I'd like to know tho if I can respec my character later. There also doesn't seem to be a synergy system like
Diablo 2. I maxed out lightning storm so far and I can't decide if it's worth to spend points on earlier skills like chain lightning.

Good thinig you started with Storm, for a character without her level 52 review she's extremely good. You can respec at any point in time if you choose to, you just need a Retcon Device to do so. They drop (rarely) or you can buy one using the splinters/Gs as well. There was a synergy system a while back but they scrapped it and increased DMG across the board for most skills. Some skills will still have synergies though, and they are usually the ones with arrows point down to other skills. I honestly wouldn't touch the points and just rely on gear at the early levels. Most of the time you can find a "Grants Skill @ X points" and use that until you hit end game. Lightning storm is a good choice as well as crashing hail.

Typically Storm builds look like:
Ball Lightning (Not chain): Max
Lightning Storm: Max
Crashing Hail: Max
Freezing Tempest: Max
Lightning Column: Max
Quickening Breeze: Max
Turbulent Winds: 1
Spirited: Leftovers.

There is a synergy system in place but unlike the diablo franchise it is geared to having bonuses based on what heroes you have at a specific level. There are also rare synergies between powers. These tend to be limited to ultimate powers.
